We’re all excited to be back on campus and to get the ball rolling on some real change. We have a lot of work to do and a lot of great events planned for this semester. As always we’re looking for new members who want to speak out against the War on Drugs and find real, sensible policy that meets the demands of the reality of American drug use. We’ve set our meeting times for Tuesday at 8pm, typically in the Adanti Student Center. Until we secure a constant room of our own please check our Facebook page for up-to-date information on room location.
This semester we’re plan to send a delegation of Southern students to the national SSDP conference in Washington DC in March. We hope that members can utilize the training offered by SSDP to better fight for sensible drug policy in our own community. Outside of this, we have a bunch of quality events being planned by our members to help keep SCSU informed. We’re always looking for new ideas and different approaches, so if you’re interested in finding a better way please come to one of our meetings.
After a long semester preparing the Southern Connecticut State University chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy has been officially recognized by both SCSU and the national SSDP board of directors this November. We are excited to move forward and into action as a group of politically conscious students. We hope to be able to engage the Southern and greater New Haven community in a meaningful discussion of our current drug policies and their impact, in particular, on students.
